There are some things I will buy for other people but not for myself. What about you? ____________________________________________________ This week I developed a technique for making scalloped-edge cocktail napkins, and it is a game changer! Now I can have my cake and eat it too. When I received Pfaff's Creative Icon, I was completely focused on embroidering tunics for The Tunic Bible and it was intense. During this Coronavirus stay-at-home period, the Icon and I have developed a new relationship, and my more relaxed approach has led me to wonderful discoveries. Would you believe the most difficult part of creating these cocktail napkins was...
I confess to my growing fondness for creating posh napkins, and blame it all on the pandemic. If you follow my Instagram account, you know what I mean...
Mimi is my daughter not my grandmother. For me, life was humming along until the coronavirus brought everything to a screeching halt. I had just finished my French Jacket from the Palm Beach workshop and was preparing to sew for a trip to Aruba this month. Like so many of you I made masks for whoever needed them...
The hardest part of filming for television is the preparation. Several days ago I traveled to Cleveland and completed three episodes for the PBS show, It's Sew Easy. TV is a lot of fun but it's not so easy 😉 My segments featured ribbon skirts, petal skirts and tunics. One of the things I truly love about traveling is learning from others. In April, Julie and I spent four days in the Tampa area presenting trunk shows and conducting Tunic Bible Workshops. In one of the workshops this lovely lady wanted to embellish her tunic with mini green pom-poms. Easy enough around the placket...
Greetings! On July 11th I will tape three more episodes in Cleveland for the PBS series, It's Sew Easy, and I'm hard at work preparing garment projects and scripts. The scripts are certainly the more difficult of the two since there is no teleprompter and retakes are not encouraged. Plus I want to sound natural...
Dear Readers, Life happens. (Birdie, Billy and James) Since I last published a post nearly two months ago, we welcomed Baby James into our family on March 1. Three days later a family member was diagnosed with an illness which has taken me away from home, as well as sewing for extended periods of time. My new embroidered tunic is in celebration of Baby James who will be here for Easter 😊 I purchased my fabric, a reversible rayon at the Children's Corner store in Nashville last year. This lovely store is loaded with beautiful fabrics ideal for both children and adults. After selecting my design...
Why is so much wonderful cotton shirting described as a man's fabric??? I couldn't pass on Mood Fabrics' beautiful pink/blue Italian cotton shirting even if the description read - This is a light weight 100% cotton shirting with a woven pattern. Smooth, soft, sleek, ideal for men's dress shirts. Cotton is simply my salvation during this time of year, and with a new grandchild due on September 1, the pink and blue stripes spoke to me! Yep, my daughter and son-in-law are doing it the old fashioned way and skipped the gender test ;) I knew this soft textured fabric with its baby colored stripes...
Greetings Dear Readers ~ I'm all over the place today 😉 It's Sew Easy's new series begins June 21st...
I wish I could say 'Greetings from the lovely Palmetto Bluff Montage Resort in lovely Bluffton, SC!' It was a paradise that lasted for three lovely days...
