Stylemaker Giveaway, ODLR, & Sew Much More!

13 Apr Stylemaker Giveaway, ODLR, & Sew Much More!

Greetings Dear Readers ~ I’m all over the place today 😉

It’s Sew Easy’s new series begins June 21st…… and below is promo one……..

During the past week, I’ve been on a steep learning curve. Last month I received Pfaff’s Premier +2 Embroidery Software, and just recently have I started to buckle down and understand how it all works.

f91159be-c9c3-4ebe-852e-c46c22b667d1Once I have it mastered I’ll fill you in.  As I have said many times, my dream is to use the embroidery machine to create tunic embellishments for plackets, necklines, collars, sleeve cuffs and hems. What I’m loving is the ability to isolate a portion of an embroidery design and create a new shape or design.

In the photo below, the top left image is the original Pfaff Embroidery Design. I repeated the single motif and created a v-neck design which I used with the ‘Wide Split Placket’ pattern piece from The Tunic Bible. The top right image shows how  I was able to eliminate the outer stitches and reduce the design to the inner flower and border of the original. In the bottom right photo I repeated and shaped the motif to fit on the ‘Angled Collar’ pattern piece.

I’m not finished with the tunic yet but you can see where I’m going with it….

I was hoping to create a lower border, but I may need another type of hoop to do so.

In support of the 2018 RTW FASTERS, StyleMaker Fabrics is giving away a $100 gift certificate to one lucky winner!

All Goodbye Valentino readers are eligible to participate in the giveaway. To enter simply leave a comment below. The winner will be announced on Monday, April 16.

So Dear Readers, I’ve been incredibly busy with little to show……. I was in a meeting this week and one of the committee members is an artist. She said when she begins a painting she is over the top with excitement and in love with her vision. At some point during the midst of painting she’s convinced she has made a terrible mistake and hates it…… wants to quit…even trash it, but as soon as that last brush stroke is completed she’s back on top .  I almost spoke up but the subject returned to fundraising….. but BOY DID I RELATE!

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend and many thanks to Stylemaker Fabrics for its very generous giveaway!

T G I F 😊

If I lived on the East Coast, I’d be at your Sip & See and attend the de la Renta Event. Exciting to see you modify emobroidery designs. I’m learning some of that, too, and as soon as I can get back to sewing, the exploration begins in earnest. I’ve signed up to receive emails from StyleMaker Fabrics and there’s lots of temptation going on. I can see you are busy, but it must be ten-fold right now because I never see you sweat. You always make it look so easy. Happy Sewing!

I am not fami,ar with Stylemaker Fabrics so this is exciting for me. I’ve been perfecting my Pattern Master abilities and this opens up the ability to concerntrate on the fabric knowing I don’t have to spend time altering a pattern. If I can master the CAD, I’d be very happy. Also Bootstrap Fashions has many style I like and that even simpler and they have a CAD feature as well. So many ideas for garments have flown away because I haven’t got pattern alteration Dow. So a new source of fabric is terrific.

The tunic is such a blank canvas for experimenting with embroidery designs. I know exactly what you mean about the steep learning curve but its so worth it. Sarah, you are an inspiration. However, my comment is more personal than sewing. You signed off TGIF, reminding me of the mug my darling Lily gave me, her Grammy, as my first Christmas present from my beloved granddaughter…A simple white mug with a turquoise interior and brightly colored lettering on the outside….TGIF This Grandma Is Fabulous. I think it certainly applies to you!

Love your tunic. You are so good with colour, something I struggle with. When I had my Husqvarna embroidery machine I had an “Endless Hoop” which was perfect for borders.. I think Pfaff have similar, maybe a newer better one as this was a while ago. I can so relate to the artists sentiment, I feel that way about most projects, almost giving up on some!!!

I’ve yet to order fabric online but Style Make fabrics has an amazing reputation. As for the live-hate-love cycle of a project: there is always a point where I begin to resent a project and it’s usually when I hit that one last technique for finishing or just before finishing. Like gathering sleeves and attaching cuffs. I just want to be finished! But then I get through it and it’s done and I’m happy.

Like you, I’m also engaged in a RTW fast this year. So far so good on that front. However, I cannot say the same on the fabric end of things. With recent opportunities to visit BJ and Mood in NYC in February and Britex in San Francisco last month, I found some extraordinary fabrics that were too hard to pass up. Now I want to sew with the most recently purchased fabric first as its freshest in my mind and inspiration. I wonder if anyone else experiences this challenge?
