28 Dec Happy Holidays and a Pfaff Passport Giveaway!

Greeting Dear Readers! I've learned through the past few months that multitasking is not my forte´. As I so excitedly announced, Julie Starr and I signed a contract for a second book which  required my immediate and devoted attention to receive a 2019 publishing date. We turned in our final package December 5, and then it was Christmas. Hello and Happy New Year! These pics taken on December 4, are from our last photo shoot, and we're on the charming cobblestone street, South Adgers Wharf, in Charleston, SC. 16 Aug A Skirt and Upcoming Event!

I can't understand how a single trip would knock me for a blogging loop but it happened. I've been traveling with my mother ~ wonderful trip but we are both glad to be home from Chautauqua. Hi There 🤗 What's so wonderful about this skirt? I asked myself the same question when I saw a similar pair of $600 linen shorts on the Moda Operandi website. Obviously it's the designer's ingenious use of stripes since the shorts are not lined or hemmed ! (The edges are serged.)  However, I loved it and got busy adapting the look to suit my style. 20 Jul Feminine Twist on Men’s Shirting

Why is so much wonderful cotton shirting described as a man's fabric??? I couldn't pass on Mood Fabrics' beautiful pink/blue Italian cotton shirting even if the description read -  This is a light weight 100% cotton shirting with a woven pattern. Smooth, soft, sleek, ideal for men's dress shirts. Cotton is simply my salvation during this time of year, and with a new grandchild due on September 1, the pink and blue stripes spoke to me! Yep, my daughter and son-in-law are doing it the old fashioned way and skipped the gender test ;) I knew this soft textured fabric with its baby colored stripes...

22 Apr Lilly Pulitzer Inspired Pants

There's no time like Springtime to channel my inner Lilly Pulitzer, and Mood Fabrics' lime green and white cotton stretch sateen was just what I needed to get in the groove. Stretch cotton sateen climbed to the top of my preferred fabrics for everyday dressing the first time I used it. It's comfortable, durable, available in different weights, and my stretch sateen stash continues to grow. Check out Mood's stash here. Sewing pants has never been my favorite. They're easy to sew but I never know about the fit. Last summer I sewed a pair of shorts using McCall's 6930. (blogged here) which fit...

27 Feb Oscar de la Renta Stretch Canvas Shirtdress

After making the white jacket (blogged here), McCall's 6520 turned out to be just the pattern I was looking for; a semi-structured dress with a classic fit and a little tailoring. I had a difficult time believing this whimsical Oscar de la Renta print is canvas, but now, not only am I believer - I'm practically a canvas convert. The fabric is from the Mood Fabrics  stretch-canvas collection. I knew I'd like any fabric designed by Oscar de la Renta, but I was surprised by its light weight and smooth texture. Mood offers a huge selection of canvas for both home decorating and apparel sewing but limited...
