I've gone Preppy this Fourth of July. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA! Using the same pattern as my last dress, McCalls 2401, I went for a different look by sewing the pattern in an embroidered seersucker rather than silk :) Additionally, I made a piping from red and white shirting for the arms and neckline. This time I lined the dress with a lightweight batiste, perfect for hot humid weather.   TGIF Dear Readers! Would you believe I never wore Maxis until I started sewing? I just finished my 'Weekend Maxi', perfect for leisurely Saturday strolls through markets and poolside afternoons. Here it is when I'm standing at attention. The pattern is Simplicity 1612 , a very easy sew with some pizzazz thanks to the cute details. Greetings from Edisto Island! Hubby and I are on the grounds of the island's historic Presbyterian Church now in its fourth century of worship, and which we found to be a perfect setting for photos. I was on a mission to make brightly colored summer clothes when New Look 6429 leaped off of the catalogue page. It's been a while since I've refashioned, and I don't know why. The deconstruction process is always informative, no instructions = freedom to be creative, and since I've got nothing invested in the project I'm generally game to try new styles and techniques. Who knows how long this old Banana Republic bias cut linen skirt has been stashed in a closet. I think my mother found it at a thrift shop. After washing and drying the skirt to shrink it, I fit the skirt to my waist and removed the waistband starting at the back zipper to 2.5 inches past each side seam....

Happiness may be a new puppy, but a new baby on the way is pure elation! Greetings from beautiful Scottsdale, AZ! We're here celebrating Mother's Day with our little mother-to-be and her husband.
