Hello Readers, It’s been a year ...
Discovering a pattern that is just your style is pure gold. I have a few and have just added a new one to the collection. Winter just got a whole lot better 😉 After browsing through a stack of Christmas catalogs during the holidays, I was convinced I needed a pair of patterned leggings and ordered Mood Fabric's ultra soft black wool knit with orchid pink medallions. Opening the box of fabric long after the catalogs were thrown away brought me back to reality and I reassessed. The leggings would be cute if I was 10 or on a Scandinavian vacation...
Several years ago I asked a woman at a tradeshow about when her business started to become successful. “When I decided to get serious about it." she replied. I believe there is a lot of truth in that statement with intention and commitment playing primary roles in our successes and failures, no matter how large or small the undertaking. While all years seem to have their share of ups and downs some are certainly better than others. Fortunately, things seemed to click this year. After taking time off to promote The Tunic Bible, a return to sewing and blogging in January was refreshing and relaxing. I...
It's the most wonderful time of the year...
My recent break has not been a break from sewing - far from it! Marketing The Tunic Bible has involved lots of additional sewing, but after completing 75 tunics, Julie and I have nailed it ;) _________________________________________ Maybe you remember my post from April about the noble woman, Lillian Weber, who in the twilight of her life, set a goal to sew 1,000 dresses for the organization, Little Dresses for Africa before she turned 100. TGIF Dear Readers! Would you believe I never wore Maxis until I started sewing? I just finished my 'Weekend Maxi', perfect for leisurely Saturday strolls through markets and poolside afternoons. Here it is when I'm standing at attention. The pattern is Simplicity 1612 , a very easy sew with some pizzazz thanks to the cute details. I made View C which features a front twist, an open back and a flared skirt. What I love about this pattern besides the ease in which it is assembled, is the coverage of the bodice. The neckline is flattering and never gapes or slips open ~ ever. I...
I am thrilled, elated and joyous that the RTW Fast is catching on. Could become a movement? In late September I was informed by a reader that the day after I completed my RTW Fast, a sew-a-long inspired by my 1 year challenge started on the Pattern Review website in my absence, with many citing me as their inspiration. I was quite moved to say the least. Just last week I learned Pattern Therapy along with thirteen other women are hosting a year-long challenge for home sewers who want to commit to ONE YEAR of sewing to build their wardrobe. The challenge is to avoid purchasing clothing beginning...
