I'm very pleased to take part in Style Maker Fabrics' Spring Blog Tour! Michelle's latest fabrics represent the best of Spring with fresh palettes and designs in many fabric types. The Pretty in Pink Gingham Check Cotton Shirting caught my eye and my love of classics kicked in. As much as I love sewing specialty garments, I wholeheartedly believe the key to sewing a successful wardrobe is constructing pieces one will wear over and over again, which begins with the classics. Classic garments are designed to flatter everyone when properly fitted, and of course that's one of my chief reasons for sewing. During my heavy duty RTW...

23 Sep McCall’s 7543

Happy Fall, Y'all! It's always so hard  to say goodbye to my favorite season of the year in exchange for falling leaves, pumpkins and holiday madness. I needed a little pick-me-up after trading my white jeans for black pants, and my new top did the trick. However, many comments included questions about sewing with Eloflex and my jacket, so I've pulled the questions from...

Such a good feeling waking up in a lovely pair of PJs! Greetings from the gazebo, a colorful escape and peaceful refuge to start my day. In April, I borrowed a pair of Julie's Carolyn Pajamas by Closet Case Patterns. (She's sewn seven pairs - seriously). At last I have my own. If you're a Bedhead fan then you'll love this pattern! (Check out Bedhead's Liberty PJs here.) I sewed the pajamas in Amy Butler's latest fabric design, Soulmate (Free Spirit Fabrics).  Amy's latest collection features 24 designs in 3 color ways of garment-friendly poplin!  Since Amy's fabrics are color co-ordinated companion fabrics, I used...

It is a great pleasure to showcase the quality products of  Coats & Clark. Headquartered in the Carolinas with a distribution center 30 minutes from my home,  I was delighted to say yes to this long-established company, and will be writing a series of posts for its redesigned blog beginning on June 29.  Coats and Clark manufactures not only thread, but zippers and knitting accessories. It is also the parent company to Free Spirit Fabrics. The company contacted me because I sew garments...
