08 Jan REDEMPTION
Do I ever feel better!
I wasn’t willing to go through the weekend agitated by my setback and got back to work, but first things first.
When I turned on my computer yesterday morning I knew immediately that a positive experience had emerged from my unsuccessful New Look dress project.
The kind comments from my Goodbye Valentino followers and Pattern Review friends truly lifted my spirits sending me back to the sewing machine.
Thank you so much – You are absolutely wonderful.
As you can tell I wasn’t about to sew another too tight dress and erred on the side of generosity. I bought this BURDA dress pattern because I really liked its neckline and clean shape.
Feminine without Ruffles – Feminine without Fuss.
My heavy, two way stretch fabric from Mary Jo’s turned out to be a good choice and I think I can wear this dress three seasons out of four. This was my first Burda pattern and I’ll definitely try another. The directions were sensible, there was no ease in the sleeves making for a smooth look and the pattern was cheap.
Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen

Posted at 19:12h, 08 JanuaryThanks, Brenda!. Being 5’2″ I have to be careful not to over-accessorize but I agree that the dress can have many different looks depending on accessories. I was so happy to complete it yesterday that I put on some large earrings, boots and a scarf (not shown) and had a complete look, but I look forward to seeing what else I can do.

Posted at 13:43h, 05 MarchHi there. I wonder if you have time to give me a bit of advice (or really, just break the bad news to me, if you have to). I’ve started working on this dress with this fabric: http://www.gorgeousfabrics.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=14865
The pattern instructions call for folding the ends of the fabric into a center line and laying out the front and back pieces on the upper and lower folds of the fabric. I did that but folded the fabric with cut ends into the center (selvedges on the sides), rather than selvedges into the center. I lined up the pattern using the pattern as my guide to make sure I was on a straight grain. Ya think my dress is going to come out funky?
Any advice you can give, is appreciated. You are great.

Posted at 17:01h, 05 MarchHmmmmmm…….I laid out my pattern as it was suggested.Is there a reason you need to lay it out otherwise? My skills are so average I try not to deviate unless I’m forced to.
