Greetings from the amazing Chautauqua Institution! Situated on 750 acres beside the Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York State, it is one of my favorite summer destinations for culture and enlightenment. Although clothes and fashion are hardly on the minds of the learned souls who inhabit this lofty sight, I found the trip a perfect opportunity to sew two very different casual pieces both from The Tunic Bible. I've gone Preppy this Fourth of July. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA! Using the same pattern as my last dress, McCalls 2401, I went for a different look by sewing the pattern in an embroidered seersucker rather than silk :) Additionally, I made a piping from red and white shirting for the arms and neckline. This time I lined the dress with a lightweight batiste, perfect for hot humid weather.   TGIF Dear Readers! Would you believe I never wore Maxis until I started sewing? I just finished my 'Weekend Maxi', perfect for leisurely Saturday strolls through markets and poolside afternoons. Here it is when I'm standing at attention. The pattern is Simplicity 1612 , a very easy sew with some pizzazz thanks to the cute details. I made View C which features a front twist, an open back and a flared skirt. What I love about this pattern besides the ease in which it is assembled, is the coverage of the bodice. Greetings from Edisto Island! Hubby and I are on the grounds of the island's historic Presbyterian Church now in its fourth century of worship, and which we found to be a perfect setting for photos. Happiness may be a new puppy, but a new baby on the way is pure elation! Greetings from beautiful Scottsdale, AZ! We're here celebrating Mother's Day with our little mother-to-be and her husband.
