Tidbits

16 Jun Tidbits

I’m sewing Vogue 8648 again . It’s not quite the  S H I B U I  that it was the first time around, partly because I have omitted the silk organza underlining, thus saving me hours or perhaps days of work.

In the meantime several tidbits of information and inspiration have surfaced that I wanted to share……..

Today I had the pleasure of reading a comment from Lexley. That would be Lexley who inspired the cute Style Arc Lexley blouse !  I’ve often wondered about the names of clothing articles , particularly with Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer who name all of the clothes after somebody.

So now I’m curious as to who else bears the name of a cute pattern or dress.  If you are one of the honorees , do tell !

Next..

Just as I thought my overly generous use of ruffles was bordering on overkill, I received a lovely email from Cissie with this image of a new dress by Lafayette 148  –  a clothing line found at Neiman Marcus.

The $398.00 price tag for this cotton dress is inspiration alone to pull out the ruffler again. 🙂 🙂

And finally…

I’m in love with Irene’s latest version of this Kwik Sew pattern.  Irene overlayed charmeuse with lace resulting in this great summer top.  I want one!

Wishing everyone a great weekend! Only 50 more seams to go..

Can’t wait to see your new semi-couture dress! Leaving out even one layer should really shorten the process. I’ve just finished what I hope will be my last couture dress as it just takes so much time. However, SK’s techniques are awfully addictive.

I looked for your dress on pattern review but didn’t find it. I’m sure it’s beautiful and can’t wait to see it!

I’m at the beach so haven’t posted on PR yet! I didn’t mean my last couture dress ever — just for now. I need some quick, easy projects!

Love that white lace top, Irene 🙂 Also, S – one can never have too many ruffles, especially when they suit you so well! Ruffle on!

Can’t wait to see your next (semi)couture dress!

Re: ruffles, I found a photo online, pretty sure it’s an actor or singer wearing a dress like that Butterick knit people were questioning for the 1,000 twists, B5783. Unfortunately, I was casually surfing the web and so didn’t copy the link. All this to say, you may think you’ve gone overboard…but someone else already went there, LOL!
