02 Jan One More Day
Dear Readers,
The positive response to the 2014 RTW Fast invitation is all things good in addition to a little overwhelming! I’ve had many requests from readers who want to join the 2014 RTW Fasters since yesterday’s post.
If you are interested in joining – and did not shop for RTW yesterday – and will send me ALL of the information today – I will be delighted to add you to the list. Please send
1. Name
2. Online photo album or blog address
3. Photo – preferably a headshot
4. Send to goodbyevalentino@gmail.com
I’m happy to extend the RSVP through today, January 2 and would love to add anyone who plans to sew her own clothes, save thousands of dollars and look like a million bucks instead of shop during 2014!
Deadline – January 2, 11:00 PM (EST)

I hope that you have lots of time for sewing this year – you are such an inspiration , but don’t get overwhelmed . Posted at 12:12h, 02 JanuaryHi Sarah, I just woke up a little while ago. I hope I’m not too late and I did make the decision at a late time (recovering from knee surgery and had other things on my mind). If I missed the cut-off it is all good, if I didn’t there should be an email in your inbox. I still will play along if not officially. Have a great year and thanks for the inspiration!

Posted at 13:16h, 02 JanuaryI post earlier but I don’t have a blog or online album. I would still like to participate. Is that possible or can you give suggestions on resources for an online album. Flicker?

Posted at 15:22h, 02 JanuaryHello,
Hmmm, I’m wondering if what I do counts as RTW Fasting. I do not by retail, but I do buy secondhand and up-cycle the clothing in addition to sewing from scratch. What do you think?

Posted at 08:26h, 03 JanuaryMichelle,
Someone else asked me about this…… thrift clothes are RTW. I struggled with this too during my first RTW Fast but in the end I had to make a decision. Perhaps you already have a huge thrift store stash at home? 😉

Posted at 15:38h, 02 JanuaryYou are such an inspiration! Having just completed my (unofficial) fast in 2013, I will not join this year, but I am applauding and cheering from the sidelines.

Happy New Year! Plus RTW Fast and De-stashing |
Posted at 19:27h, 02 January[…] in my last post where I highlighted my sewing goals for 2014, I mentioned that I’ve joined Goodbye Valentino’s 365 Day RTW Fast (it’s not too late to join!). One year of refraining from buying any Ready-to-wear […]

Posted at 23:02h, 02 JanuaryHi
I am super keen to join in with the 2014 RTW Fast Challenge – I have been struggling to get a blog up and running in the short time since I discovered your site I have been a sewist since I was a child, but only have limited time and am rediscovering the joys. . I hope that you will still let me join even with only part of the info – I will flick through a blog address in the next day.
Cheers
Margaret (Wellington New Zealand)

Posted at 16:52h, 06 JanuaryI was scared to jump in and join, but excited at the same time. This weekend was a challenge since my youngest child wanted to go buy new clothes because her high school clothing are to big. Instead of shopping, I ripped open seams and rebuilt 5 skirts, one sweater, one dress, and altered one blouse. She is happy and im really happy and now she is starting off second semester college with more clothing options. A good.start to my RTW fast. Thank you for this challenge.

Posted at 14:05h, 23 FebruaryThis is a great idea! I want to really work on my handmade wardrobe this year. Is it too late to join? If so, it’s quite alright, I’ll still try to do the RTW fast on my own.

Posted at 13:52h, 16 JuneHello, I am too late for the party, but want to tell you how much I appreciate your blog. One of the problems with self-made clothing (at least for me) is remembering how homespun and uninteresting the outfits were. This goes back to high school (was it really 1969?), so I’ve been out of the loop for decades. Looking into purchasing my first new sewing machine and beginning to create my own wardrobe. I’m envisioning nice, sophisticated items that are still comfy for my nicely cushioned frame. Your blog is such an inspiration!
