Who’s there?
O R A N G E.
Orange who?
Orange you going to ask what possessed me to order all of this L O U D fabric?
Bigger, Brighter and Bolder does not mean B e t t e r .
Hopefully you caught the word ORDER. I’ve had excellent results from ordering fabric online until now, and the reason my latest order is such a disappointment is because I didn’t take the time to order swatches. It never occurred to me that this
would be this
or that this stripe
would be this stripe.
and I never dreamed the scale of this floral
I was going to make a top with this.
Not only are the stripes four inches wide, the white stripe is sheer.
This
was going to be a dress but it’s too much and will overwhelm me. So, I feel another pair of floral pants coming on…………
And I don’t know what I’m going to do with this.
I’ve been lucky with past online orders because I’ve been familiar with the fabric……..primarily Amy Butler cottons and solid color jerseys.
Moral of the story……..
D o n ’ t j u d g e a f a b r i c b y t h e J P E G
Until soon.

Posted at 10:10h, 16 MarchJust curious, where did you buy these?

Posted at 10:16h, 16 MarchMood, who encourages customers to order samples. My mistake.

Posted at 10:58h, 16 MarchI did the same thing. I ordered based on the jpeg and the description. I was looking for a brown fabric. The fabric looked brown, was described as brown, but when I got it, it only had a little bit of brown and was actually black, I think. I called and they said it was listed as brown because of the tiny bit of brown. Now I really don’t like ordering unless I am familiar with the fabric.

Posted at 17:04h, 16 MarchI ordered from Mood Fabrics. The website encourages its customers to order swatches and states it cannot guarantee the color. I completely understand this, but didn’t think to order a swatch. Never again!!

Posted at 11:02h, 16 MarchI’m thinking awning for the multi stripe! It’s hard for me not to love all of these since orange is my favorite color but I know you must be disappointed these won’t work for clothing. I do think the hibiscus print would make a cute dress…just a simple shift …I don’t think that would be overwhelming but you are more petite than I am…in any even’t you “brightened” my day…lol

Posted at 17:08h, 16 MarchGlad to know I’ve brightened someone’s day!
Awning, beach totes and outdoor furnishing covers seem to be first thing that comes to mind with the multi stripe……. 🙂
I love orange too but none of the fabric was what I was expecting. The floral is at least 60″ wide – I’ve got enough to make pants and a shift!

Posted at 11:18h, 16 MarchOh no! That’s disappointing that it didn’t work out. Those photos do look quite different from the actual product. Yay for floral pants!

Posted at 17:10h, 16 MarchFloral pants it will be! Actually the fabric is so wide I might be making more than one garment 🙂

Posted at 11:21h, 16 MarchOne of the stripes looks like my chair covering on my lanai. I’m anxious to see what you do with the fabric. Good Luck?????????????? A. Maggie

Posted at 17:16h, 16 MarchOutdoor furnishings seems to come to everyone’s mind when they see the multi-colored stripe! I’ve received some great suggestions so far 🙂

Posted at 11:51h, 16 MarchThe hibiscus will work in a shift dress, and perhaps some fun patio decorations with the others? Pillows…placemats…napkins.
goodbyevalentino
Posted at 17:17h, 16 MarchSomeone else suggested a shift dress too. I’ve just cut pants but the fabric is so wide that I have enough for a dress too! Thanks so much for the suggestions!

Posted at 12:35h, 16 MarchI’m seeing some GLORIOUS new pillow covers and or a nice floaty full length sun-dress coming on.

Posted at 17:21h, 16 MarchThe multi-color stripe seems to remind everyone of home furnishings! It really would make some nice pillows!

Posted at 15:14h, 16 MarchMy sympathies to you – it is so disappointing when a much anticipated fabric order goes wrong
goodbyevalentino
Posted at 17:22h, 16 MarchThank you, Faye. There’s a first time for everything, I suppose. I won’t let it happen again though.

Posted at 16:34h, 16 MarchMy first thought was ‘deck chair’ for the multiple stripe, or beach bag tote…
But all-in-all a very unusual selection of fabric to attempt to create with….looking forward to seeing how you utilise them in your wardrobe….

Posted at 17:23h, 16 MarchThe multi-color stripe is reminding most readers of home dec fabric! It has a nice stretch to it, but I have no idea what I will do with it yet. Many thanks for writing 🙂

Posted at 17:30h, 16 Marchhmmmm interesting selection – look forward to seeing what you make from each of them.

Posted at 17:56h, 16 MarchHi Pauline, It’s way more interesting than I planned…… I don’t know what to do with the stripes……. help 🙁

Posted at 11:07h, 17 MarchHi Reecie ~ it really does look like home dec fabric, however it has a nice stretch to it so maybe I can find some type of garment to make!

Posted at 22:19h, 16 MarchOh my. Wow. Now I will remember to order swatches first for sure….though the colours and prints are really nice. The stripey could be great for a pleated skirt of some description?
goodbyevalentino
Posted at 11:08h, 17 MarchYeah, swatches are a must for me now! The fabrics are nice but not at all what I thought they would be……..

Posted at 00:31h, 17 MarchWhat about some of those fun 50ish aprons I am seeing now? Not sure if you bake…but they would also make great gifts….Oh and thanks for the laugh today!
goodbyevalentino
Posted at 11:10h, 17 MarchHappy to make somebody laugh today! If I hadn’t once owned an apron business I’d consider making an apron……………. 🙂
Thanks for writing!

Posted at 13:46h, 17 MarchHmmmmmmmmm, weeeeeeeellllllllllllll, sorry but I laughed and laughed. I thought that it was just me, sadly I quite frequently do an on line order and then am “pleasantly” surprised by what arrives. The print will look great as trousers, and a dress will be a plus. The rest – hammocks, beach bags, and an old fashioned wind breaker to sit behind on the beach when it is freezing cold and about to rain but you are on your holidays and therefore are making the most of it (this may only happen in England). Mood is one of my favourites I didn’t know they did swatches. You cannot deny this year is a genuine journey!
Carolyn
Posted at 10:18h, 18 MarchI have a deep u-necked simple shift made from an orange stripe similar to the one you just bought. It is perfect for summer wear and I vote for that type of garment. However, did you check Mood’s return policy? Almost all of the online fabric vendors I shop allow you to return fabric. If you really can’t figure out what to do with it – return it!
goodbyevalentino
Posted at 09:29h, 19 MarchThanks for this suggestion, Carolyn. Oddly enough the return policy page for Mood Fabrics is shown as “missing” so perhaps the policy is in the process of modification. I will keep checking!
