Redo II

This cute skirt has been in my oldest daughter’s closet for four years. She also moved away from home four years ago. I didn’t get rid of it because it belongs to one of her friends who now lives 500 miles away.  I believe it’s safe to say the skirt has been abandoned…..

The skirt is a size 12 and I am a size 4. Since it has a side zipper and no waistband, it should be easy to alter by adjusting one side.  The only problem is there is a hole on the front of the skirt……

Cute skirt! Too big and has a hole or rip in the front.

Well,  remaking this skirt was not too difficult at all.

I detached 6 inches of the lining at the waist and cut away two inches from the front and the back pieces. I reattached the  excess lining by hand and then stitched the sides back together on the machine.

As far as the hole, I applied a piece of interfacing under it. With the excess fabric I had trimmed, I made an appliqued  flower matching one already on the skirt. Once I placed the flower over the hole you’d never know the second flower was a repair job!

Another new skirt – free.

I think that was my skirt back in the day!! I totally forgot about it! Glad you put it to good use, I always thought it was cute!

  2. I’m feeling terrible about remaking this skirt without contacting you first! I hope you’ll forgive me but it just didn’t occur to me that you might want it back one day. Sorry!
